In imitation of Our Blessed Mother serving St. Elizabeth
“The Most Important Person on earth is a mother. She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral -a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby’s body. . . The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation. .. What on God’s good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?”
~ Venerable Jozsef Cardinal Mindszenty

What is a Doula?
A Doula is a person who provides physical and emotional support to individuals and their partners before, during or after giving birth. They do not provide medical care or advice, but may act as an advocate with the medical provider in order for the individual to make fully informed decisions.
What will you do as a Birth Doula?
As a birth doula, my role is to help create a positive birth experience through advocacy, information, offering comfort measures and being fully present throughout the birthing process.
Initially, we would meet to establish our relationship and to discover the particular needs and desires for this birth. Approximately 6 weeks prior to the expected birth date, I would come to your home and we would review your birth plan. If you are planning a home birth, this would be in coordination with your midwife. At the time of your birth, I will come to you within one hour plus drive time per your request. I will remain with you throughout labor offering physical and emotional support and comfort measures. Finally, I will provide a follow up visit within a week after the birth.
What will you do as a Postpartum Doula?
As a postpartum doula, I am able to assist the new mother in breastfeeding support, care of the baby or other children, meal preparation, light housekeeping and other supportive roles; thus providing the new mother and her partner time to rest, recover and bond with the new baby.
We will meet via phone or in person to determine your needs and desires, customizing the care to fit you and your family.
